Advocacy group applauds proposed bill that would decriminalize biking, walking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Legislation is being discussed at the Kansas City, Missouri, City Hall that could repeal three existing laws concerning jaywalking and bicycles.

The legislation, sponsored by Mayor Quinton Lucas, focuses on three city codes.

Code 70-268 requires wheels and tires to be clean, 70-706 allows the inspection of bicycles relating to traffic and vehicles, and 70-783 relates to “jaywalking.”

According to authors of the proposed bill, the three existing city codes don’t make people safer and expose citizens to unnecessary interactions with law enforcement.

Bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization, BikeWalkKC supports the bill and said it

Photographer Captures the Beauty of Synchronized Swimming from Above

Aerial photographer Brad Walls has published a photographic series depicting synchronized swimmers in an effort to share a different perspective of the artistic sport.

Also known as Bradscanvas, Walls is an award-winning fine art aerial photographer based in Sydney, Australia. Baseball’s sweetest song: Willie Mays, forever young, is 90

Willie Mays is turning 90, and no mistaking that number. It strikes with the clarity of a line drive. Mays played in a sport measured by milestones — 3,000 hits, 500 homers, signposts he passed and then some — and now here’s one more.

On Thursday, when baseball’s oldest living Hall of Famer is serenaded with renditions of “Happy Birthday to You,” it might be time to expand the playlist. A player of such infinite variety deserves as much.

There’s plenty to choose from. References to the Giants center fielder cut across the years and the genres — rock, pop,

Texas A&M Aggies football coach Jimbo Fisher says ‘don’t worry,’ team will beat Alabama Crimson Tide and coach Nick Saban

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher took a playful shot at Alabama coach Nick Saban during an appearance at the Houston Touchdown Club on Wednesday.

According to audio obtained by the Houston Chronicle, Fisher was asked what it would take to beat Alabama other than the retirement of the 69-year-old Saban.

“We’re going to beat his ass when he’s there, don’t worry,” Fisher responded as the crowd laughed.

Fisher went on to say how much he respects Saban, whom he worked under at LSU from 2000 to ’04.

Saban won his first national championships at LSU in 2004. He has

The Swiss Army Knife of running, Novi’s Miles Brown is elite on the track

NOVI, Mich. — At a high school track and field meet last week, Miles Brown completed an unconventional day of racing. Tabbed to run the 1,600 meter run and the 400 meter dash – with just one event separating them – it is no easy ask to ask an athlete to compete in both events.

But Brown is an unconventional athlete. In fact, it is hard to find any runner quite like the Novi senior anywhere else in the state of Michigan. Ever.

“Describing Miles as anything less than phenomenal does him a disservice,” said second-year Novi track coach Garrett

The Solution To Bad Streamlines

The Problem: Bad Streamlines

As coaches, the first thing we teach our swimmers is the streamline, and yet every day on every pool deck of every swim team in the world a coach is uttering these words…

“Fix your streamline!”

We were those coaches! We tried everything to get our swimmers to simply squeeze their heads better: pushups for punishment, long lectures about the importance of reducing drag, even jumping in with all our clothes on if they would do one workout with perfect streamlines.

It never lasted, the kids never got

Photograph: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images The extraordinary FBI raid on Rudy Giuliani’s New York apartment and office has sparked debate about what criminal charges Giuliani may face, and signals a widening criminal investigation into his Ukraine drive to help Trump in 2020 by sullying Joe Biden, former prosecutors say. College football rankings: Alabama on top, Oregon rockets up CBS Sports’ post-spring top 25

Even after a record-tying showing in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft (six picks) and breaking the record for number of players selected in the first two rounds (eight), Alabama has enough young talent ready to step in that the Crimson Tide have ended the spring practice season on top of CBS Sports’ post-spring college football rankings.

Now, technically, spring practice hasn’t wrapped up everywhere; however, last Saturday saw the final big wave of spring games and the last month has brought the conclusion of on-field work for most FBS programs. Now is a good time to reset

Seahawks’ DK Metcalf aiming for Olympic berth by running 100 meters

What happens if Metcalf is injured during this process?

Michael-Shawn Dugar, Seahawks beat writer: Well, the Seahawks are probably wondering the same thing. Based on the terms of a standard rookie contract, there’s a world in which Seattle comes for a piece of his signing bonus in the event of injury that prevents Metcalf from performing his contractual obligations to the Seahawks. That’s unlikely, I’d imagine, because the worst that can probably happen during all of this is Metcalf injures his hamstring, which isn’t exactly a career-ending situation.

Lindsay Jones, senior NFL writer: The Seahawks will get plenty of publicity
