Why N.B.A. Referees Agreed to a Covid-19 Vaccine Mandate

Late last month, the N.B.A. sent out a short news release announcing an agreement with the union representing the league’s referees to mandate Covid-19 vaccines. It stipulated that all referees must to be fully vaccinated to work games, including “recommended boosters.”

Otherwise, the statement said, referees couldn’t work.

The announcement came after a tumultuous N.B.A. season in which several referees had to miss games because they had been in contact with someone who had tested positive, sometimes forcing the league to call up G League officials to fill the gap.

UC asks court to toss fired basketball coach John Brannen’s lawsuit

The University of Cincinnati has filed a motion asking a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit of former men’s basketball coach John Brannen for damages from his firing.

Brannen, who was let go April 9 after two seasons, filed the federal lawsuit May 21, seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages and a more than $5 million buyout he says he’s due. MANHATTAN, Kan. (KSNT) – Two former K-State basketball standouts announced their engagement on social media. A photo of Dean Wade on one knee proposing to Kayla Goth showed up on Wade’s Instagram feed.

Wade was born in Wichita. He was a four-year letterman at St. John High School before going to Kansas State University.
