SALEM. Va. – The community comes together in honor of a local man who died at the end of a weekend race.

Salem native Andy Dalton suddenly died after he finished running a race on Saturday.

Monday morning, Run About Sports and Fleet Feet Roanoke hosted a community prayer in his honor at the Salem Red Sox stadium ahead of Health Focus 5 and 10K race.

Concord Running Standout, Fayetteville Native Off To Japan To Race In Paralympics

Fayetteville native Jonathan Gore qualified for the Paralympics that will be hosted in Japan in a few weeks. He’s ranked second in the world in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes behind fellow American and three-time Paralympic qualifier Jerryd Wallace.

He’s trained for the trials with Concord Track and Field Coaches Mike Cox and RJ Anderson for about two years.

Gore ran track for Concord University from 2013 to 2017.

Cleveland Guardians: Baseball team announces new nickname as it moves away from Native American imagery

The Cleveland Major League Baseball franchise announced in December of 2020 that it had decided to get rid of the “Indians” nickname that had become increasingly divisive. However, plans were still in place to keep that nickname for the 2021 season before going in a new direction, at the end of the season.
