USA Swimming Announces Split-Site 2021 Speedo Summer Championships

USA Swimming confirmed on Monday plans for the 2021 Speedo Summer Championships. The meet will take place from August 3-7 and be split into East and West sites.

The meet is being referred to specifically as “Summer Championships” and not “National Championships” because the results won’t be officially combined into a single ranking.


  • East – Greensboro Aquatic Center, Greensboro, North Carolina
  • West – William Wollett Jr. Aquatics Center, Irvine, California

Texas swimming hole Jacob’s Well is open for reservations

WIMBERLEY, Texas – Jacob’s Well Natural Area in Wimberley is open for reservations for summer 2021.

Reservations are required for swimming which will be allowed through September 30. Walk-ups won’t be able to swim, so make sure to reserve a time slot before driving to the artesian spring.

Reservation fees are $9 for adults, $5 for Hays County residents, seniors, service members, veterans, children aged 5 to 12, and free for children ages 4 and younger.

Arriving late for a scheduled swim reservation is allowed, but any swimming time missed will be forfeited. Each reservation guarantees a two-hour time slot

Swimming Canada Postpones 2021 Olympic Trials Again, This Time to June

Swimming Canada has moved its Tokyo 2020 Olympic Trials meet to June 19-23, athletes were told in a conference call on Wednesday. The move comes after Ontario introduced another stay-at-home order and declared a third state of emergency earlier this month amid a rise in new coronavirus cases.

The most recent Trials dates were from May 24-28, with a very limited selection of athletes invited. A high-performance test event scheduled for early May has been canceled.

Robert Pinter Joins South Carolina Swimming Staff, First Hire of Poppell Era

South Carolina’s new head swimming & diving coach Jeff Poppell has made his first hire, adding Robert Pinter as the new staff’s first assistant coach.

Pinter has previous stops as an assistant at Iowa, Wisconsin, and Georgia Tech, and since 2016 has served as the head coach of Gator Swim Club. Gator Swim Club is the club program in Gainesville, Florida that is affiliated with the University of Florida. Poppell’s prior stop before South Carolina was as the head coach of the women’s varsity program at the University of Florida.

California’s Southern Section to Hold Swimming and Diving Championships in May

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)’s Southern Section announced on Wednesday that the Orange County Department of Public Health gave its approval to hold the Section’s Swimming and Diving Championships for the 2020-21 school year.

The Southern Section comprises most of the public and private high schools in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and central and southern Santa Barbara counties. [Note: There is a separate section called CIF Los Angeles City Section for teams from the public schools that make up the vast Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).]
