Volunteers keep up the pace on hiking, biking trail

Aug. 6—Volunteers have been gathering for Trail Build Day at the all-purpose walking and mountain biking trails.

Tahlequah Trail Association board members take volunteers out in groups to work on several segments of the trail. Mike Bingham, TTA board member, said each group has a leader to teach sustainable practices for trail building, and they are moving dirt, rocks, brush, and organic matter.

Mountain biker injured in fall on Burlington trail

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A woman was injured Monday after falling down an embankment in Burlington while mountain biking.

Burlington police say the woman was on a trail off Mansfield Avenue and fell down an embankment, ditched her bike and hit her head.

Crews arrived at the scene and used their stokes and wheels, which is a specialized litter designed for backwoods rescues. She was then sent to the hospital.

We do not know her condition.

Steve Vigneau of Shelby Township knows a thing or two about the twists, turns, bumps, and jumps of Macomb County’s trails. Whenever the 43-year IT worker has an opportunity, he loves to jump on his mountain bike and explore the county on two-wheels.
